Julia DeVillers is
the author of books that empower teen and tween girls. Her
books have been featured in national publications
including The New York Times, USA Today and
Publishers Weekly.
Her next book will
be How My Private, Personal Journal Became a
Bestseller. It will be a hardcover release
by Dutton/Penguin in May 2004. Film and TV rights
are represented by The Gotham Group.
She also is the fiction series for tween girls, Tuned In (2003).
It is sold exclusively in Limited Too stores, in their
catalog and on their web site. The series currently
includes: Fast Friends, Star Struck, True Teamwork,
Music Mania, School
Spirit and Doggie Dreams.
DeVillers’
most recent nonfiction book is Girlwise: How to Be
Confident, Capable, Cool and In Control
(Random House, 2002.) It is now in its second printing.
Girlwise includes contributions from Meg Cabot (Princess
Diaries), Marci Shimoff (Chicken Soup for the Women’s
Soul), and publishers and editors from teen magazines
including YM, CosmoGIRL, Teen People and ELLEGirl. Her
previous book for girls, Teen girlfriends:
Celebrating the Good Times, Getting Through the Hard Times
is part of the NY Times best-selling Girlfriends series.
The Dorm Survival Guide (Random House) will
be released in Spring 2005.
DeVillers is the former editorial director of a
health educational publishing. She developed nonfiction
books and multimedia for children and teens.
She received her M.A. in journalism from The Ohio State
University with graduate courses in children’s literature
and a B.A. in communications from the State University of
New York at Oswego.
